Our secoArchival photos of Carolina alumni overlayed on an image of the Old Well with rainbow colorsnd annual CPAN Spring Reunion Weekend was a wonderful time filled with fun, fellowship and opportunities to connect with new Carolina friends. Friday night, we hosted a reception at Carmichael Arena where we heard updates from Shelley Johnson, Assistant Athletic Director of Student Athlete Development. She gave us updates about her work implementing departmental and affinity groups to enhance the holistic development of Carolina athletes and teams. One group Shelley highlighted was Athlete Ally, a LGBTQ athlete advocacy group that Carolina athletics has partnered with.

Saturday, we kicked off the day with a “State of the University Panel.” We heard from Dr. William Hall, Associate Professor School of Social Work, Dr. Antonia Randolph, Assistant Professor Department of American Studies and Katherine Croft, Program Manager of UNC Transgender Health Program at UNC Health. They gave us updates about the amazing research, care and work in the LGBTQ space being accomplished at Carolina. Following this, we had time for discussion over lunch then went into our Generation of Pride Panel. During this panel we heard from alums who graduated between 1960 – 2020 and it was amazing to hear LGBTQ voices through the decades. We ended the day with a mixer where we encouraged our members to continue building connections with alums from every other decade.

We wrapped up the weekend Sunday morning with a Rooftop brunch at Still Life on Franklin Street. We are so grateful for everyone who was able to attend and we look forward to seeing you at future CPAN events. Keep scrolling for pictures from these wonderful events!
